AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY MARKET REPORT
Comment
The wool market finished strongly this week prior to the 3 week recess period. Strong demand and competition on 15/15.5 micron this week with significant gains made in these two microns. High quality wool remains the focus of European interests and significant gains in the Chinese type range as topmakers and greasy wool traders compete to secure volume prior to the break. Certified wool again experienced a small but healthy surge, however quality tells the story as poorly prepared wools received less interest. Currency tried to halt proceedings on Wednesday, however shipping cut offs and a small surge in demand as traders continue to follow the market. The last two weeks has seen good volumes traded added to the continuous push from China indent buyers to have stock to trade over the 3 week recess.
