Comment
North Island only offering 7,000 bales today. The selection consisted of 20% good/average colour ewe fleece, 34.0 to 38.0 micron, 50% good/average colour second shears, 35.0 to 38.0 micron with the balance consisting of associated fleece, shears, lamb fleece and oddments, mostly average colour This week’s auction followed the same trend as last weeks South Island auction with some pressure on a small offering of good colour fleeces and early shorns showing very firm levels. The larger volume of second shear lines however eased back again to buyers favour for both good and average colour. Oddments were neglected on the day with a relatively small offering up to 5% cheaper. Competition across most sectors with Europe beginning to show interest and well supported by China Australasian mills and the Sub-Continent.
