We are seeing some of the best quality superfine wool for many seasons being offered at the moment. The dryer conditions coming after the good summer and autumn is ideal for wool growing. The high tensile strength, low vegetable matter, good handle and ideal length will provide for some excellent performance in topmaking, spinning and weaving for those who are able to buy wool now. The selection is a mix of outstanding superfine wool and some well grown merino types from the pastoral zones of Australia. The broader merinos are still carrying some VM but the wools are of excellent quality. Merino sheep do like conditions as they are now. However, for many farmers, rain is becoming much needed as we are entering into a hot and dry period with falling stock prices. This is creating some financial concerns for many farmers who appear more willing to sell wool at the moment despite the easing price trends.

Good specification non mulesed superfine wool with certification was keenly sort after.

Forecast

We have another superfine sale in Sydney next week that will provide a good offering of fine and superfine wool. The sale format is a little disjointed next week with various public holidays falling on differnt days in the various states of Australia. Melbourne will sell Tuesday and Wednesday while Sydney and Fremantle will offer on Wednesday and Thursday.
