Summary

Mixed market.

Comment

South Island only offering 10,000 bales.  The selection consisted of 45% crossbred fleece, 32.0 to 38.0 micron good and average style, 18% crossbred shear 31.0 to 38.0 micron, good style bulk 75mm, 11% halfbred wool 22.0-29.5 micron super style, 11% merino fleece, 15.0 to 21.0 micron super style and 15% associated oddments.  Good demand for 32.0 to 38.0 micron at this level but limited competition for 23.0 to 29.0 micron.  Europe and United Kingdom main with support from Australasian carpet mills.

Fleece

Crossbred fleece all descriptions firm.

Halfbred fleece 23-29 micron generally 7.5% cheaper.

Merino fleece 15-23 micron mixed but better style wools keenly sought after.

Second Shears

75/100mm and shorter firm.

Oddments

Crossbred all descriptions buyers favour.

Passings

19% passed in (mainly 24 to 28 micron).
